Welcome - I'm Glad You're Here

I’m Shana Evans-Bassett, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Atlanta, Georgia. I help individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and authenticity. My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens within the safety of a trusting relationship — a space where you can feel seen, heard, and understood.

As your therapist, my aim in every session is to attend carefully to your needs and offer the most appropriate treatment to further your progress in therapy. I will maintain an ongoing dialogue with you about your experience and what you need from me to help you achieve your goals, including session frequency and your readiness for termination.

Individual Psychotherapy

As an experienced psychotherapist in Atlanta, I provide personalized support to address your unique concerns and promote personal development in a safe and confidential setting. Individual therapy is the gold standard of healing dyadic relationships. In a confidential environment, you are free to explore all thoughts, feelings, and internal conflicts without fear of judgment. I take a developmental approach to your therapy process, meeting you where you are and working with you to discover your growing edges. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapist-client relationship is the single most important factor in treatment success. I use principles from psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and symbolic experiential therapy to inform my participation in your process. We are in this together.

Marital, Couple & Family Therapy

Couple and family therapy sessions in Atlanta can foster understanding between individuals, strengthen emotional bonds, and promote healing in relational systems. When I work with couples and families, I consider both the psychology of the individuals and the shared dynamics of the system. I help couples interrupt destructive cycles, build satisfying relationships, and assist families in fostering healthy boundaries, respectful communication, cooperation, and peacefulness at home. I strive to create an environment where all members feel heard and supported.

As a skilled therapist in Atlanta, GA, I offer focused care for ADHD and neurodivergent individuals to enhance daily functioning and confidence.

Everything you need to know before starting therapy

What is therapy like?
Therapy is a collaborative process. In our sessions, you’ll find a safe, confidential space to talk openly about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we’ll explore what’s been challenging, identify patterns that may no longer serve you, and discover new ways to move forward. Each session is guided by your goals, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to cope with life’s challenges, therapy can help. Many people begin therapy when they’re ready for change — even if they’re not sure what that change looks like yet. The first session is a good opportunity to discuss your concerns and see if it feels like a good fit.
Our first meeting is an opportunity to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you hope to achieve. You can also ask any questions about my approach or the process itself. My goal is to help you feel safe, comfortable, and supported as we begin our work together.
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, the nature of your concerns, and your personal pace of growth. Some people find relief after a few sessions, while others choose to continue therapy as an ongoing form of support and personal development. We’ll discuss what works best for you and revisit your progress regularly.
